De overeenkomst, ondertekend tijdens een besloten ceremonie voorafgaand aan de seizoensopening in Monte Carlo, betekent dat Shell de speciaal voor het team van Hyundai Motorsport gemaakte variant van de synthetische motorolie

Shell Helix Ultra, zal blijven leveren voor races, tests en de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe 2017 Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. “Shell Helix Ultra heeft Hyundai Motorsport al aan 1,5 pk-vermogenswinst geholpen, waarmee we aan het eind van elke rally gemiddeld zes seconden voordeel behalen”, vertelt Michel Nandan, teamleider van het Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team. In deze samenwerking, die in 2005 van start ging, is Shell tevens wereldwijd de exclusieve

voorkeursleverancier van olie voor de aftermarket-activiteiten van Hyundai Motor Company. In dat kader levert Shell hoogwaardige motoroliën aan dealers in meer dan 70 landen. “Shell heeft een zeer belangrijke rol gespeeld voor onze internationale bedrijfsvoering, zowel in technisch als commercieel opzicht. Shell is vanaf ons eerste WRC-seizoen een enorm waardevolle adviseur geweest. Toen waren we namelijk niet meer dan een autofabrikant met ambitie en nu zijn we enkele maanden geleden als tweede geëindigd in de 2016 Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ Championships”, licht bestuursvoorzitter G.H. Choi van Hyundai Motorsport na de ceremonie toe. Shell en Hyundai Motorsport zetten hun eerste gezamenlijke stappen in de WRC in 2014. Shell, vanaf de allereerste rally de officiële leverancier van smeermiddelen voor het nieuwe raceteam, bracht daarbij meer dan 40 jaar ervaring in. “Het WRC behoort tot de meest uitdagende motorsportevenementen ter wereld en omvat rally’s op grind, asfalt, ijs en sneeuw. De wagens moeten onder extreme omstandigheden optimaal presteren, of het nu -30°C of +40°C is. Daarom hebben we met Hyundai Motorsport samengewerkt aan de ontwikkeling van racevarianten van Shell Helix Ultra-smeermiddelen gericht op betere prestaties. Ze houden namelijk de motor schoon en zorgen voor minimale frictie en slijtage, zelfs onder de extreme belasting die de rallysport inhoudt”, aldus Jochen Lach, projectleider voor WRC Engine Oil Development bij Shell.

Over Shell lubricants

Het begrip ‘Shell Lubricants’ is de verzamelnaam voor alle ondernemingen binnen de Shell Group die actief zijn op de smeermiddelenmarkt. Shell verkoopt een breed assortiment smeermiddelen om te kunnen voldoen aan de behoeften van klanten voor een scala aan toepassingen. Daartoe behoren particuliere voertuigen, zwaar transport, mijnbouw, energieopwekking en algemene machinebouw. Het Shell-portfolio van smeermiddelen omvat Pennzoil, Quaker State, Shell Helix, Shell Rotella, Shell Tellus en Shell Rimula. We zijn actief in de gehele leveringsketen voor smeermiddelen. We produceren basisoliën in zeven fabrieken; produceren smeermiddelen door menging van basisoliën met additieven in meer dan 40 fabrieken; distribueren, vermarkten en verkopen smeermiddelen in meer dan 100 landen.

Daarnaast bieden we onze klanten ondersteuning op technisch en bedrijfseconomisch gebied. In aanvulling op ons productaanbod verzorgen we diensten die gerelateerd zijn aan smeermiddelen, waaronder: Shell LubeMatch – het meest gebruikte online productadviesprogramma; Shell LubeAdvisor – helpt klanten het juiste smeermiddel te kiezen met behulp van deskundige Shell-technici en online-programma’s; Shell LubeAnalyst – een waarschuwingssysteem dat klanten tijdig inlicht als ze de conditie van hun apparatuur en smeermiddel moeten controleren, waardoor op onderhoudskosten wordt bespaard en potentieel verlies van bedrijfstijd door uitval van apparatuur wordt vermeden.
