Als onderdeel van Shell’s nieuwe aanbod biedt het bedrijf nu Shell Renewable Diesel aan zijn wegtransportklantenweg aan. Deze nieuwe brandstof is een schoner brandende diesel, gemaakt van 100% hernieuwbare componenten¹. Shell Renewable Diesel is nu beschikbaar voor bulklevering aan wegtransportbedrijven die dieseltanks op hun terrein of depots hebben staan. Tevens is Shell van plan om Shell Renewable Diesel op truckstations in België aan te bieden in het eerste kwartaal van 2024.\u003C/b\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EShell Renewable Diesel is een drop-in brandstof die gebruikt kan worden bij voertuigen uitgerust met de huidige dieselmotoren die zijn goedgekeurd voor het gebruik van EN15940-brandstoffen. De brandstof vermindert de CO\u003Csub\u003E2\u003C/sub\u003Eeuitstoot tussen 80% en 90% in vergelijking met conventionele B7-diesel² . Momenteel enkel beschikbaar voor levering, maar in het eerste kwartaal van 2024 zal Shell Renewable Diesel beschikbaar zijn aan de pomp in vijf Shell Truck stations in België. De stations bevinden zich in Antwerpen, Gent, Herstal, Maasmechelen en Menen-Rekkem.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENaast het verminderen van de CO\u003Csub\u003E2\u003C/sub\u003Ee-uitstoot heeft de nieuwe brandstof nog andere voordelen, waaronder:\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003ESchonere verbranding\u003C/b\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E\r\nIn het productieproces van Shell Renewable Diesel worden meer uniforme paraffinische moleculen geproduceerd, vergeleken met conventionele diesel brandstof geproduceerd uit raffinage van ruwe olie. Door het hoge cetaangetal en de afwezigheid van aromaten zorgt Shell Renewable Diesel voor een schonere verbranding met minder luchtvervuiling door de lagere uitstoot van stikstofoxiden en deeltjes, vergeleken met conventionele dieselbrandstof.\u003C/li\u003E\r\n\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003EMotorgeluid\u003C/b\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E\r\nShell Renewable Diesel kan leiden tot een vermindering van het motorgeluid tot circa 3 dB(A) in vergelijking met conventionele dieselbrandstof. Dit is het gevolg van het hoge cetaangetal van Shell Renewable Diesel, wat zorgt voor een snellere en gelijkmatigere verbranding. Wij veronderstellen dat minder motorgeluid kan bijdragen aan een beter welzijn van de bestuurder en daarbij het gebruik van voertuigen in geluidsreductiezones mogelijk maakt.\u003C/li\u003E\r\n\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003EKoude start\u003C/b\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E\r\nDoor het hoge cetaangetal van Shell Renewable Diesel start een koude motor sneller en soepeler in vergelijking met conventionele dieselbrandstof. Dit is vooral belangrijk bij het starten van de motor in de ochtend na een koude winternacht.\u003C/li\u003E\r\n\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003EHoog cetaangetal\u003C/b\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E\r\nEen hoog cetaangetal helpt bij het verminderen van de uitstoot van stikstof oxiden en het motorgeluid. Het verbetert ook het gemak van de koude start van de motor. Het cetaangetal van Shell Renewable Diesel is veel hoger dan dat van conventionele dieselbrandstof. Om de doelstelling van de Overeenkomsten van Parijs te verwezenlijken moet de uitstoot van wegtransport in 2050 met bijna 60% zijn afgenomen ten opzichte van 2018, ondanks een verwachte verdubbeling in het volume voertuigen in de wegtransportsector in dezelfde periode.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EShell Commercial Road Transport zet zich in voor de productie en levering van brandstoffen die de CO\u003Csub\u003E2\u003C/sub\u003Ee-uitstoot verminderen.
